Hi all!
It was a great pleasure to participate in the Latinoware presenting a talk on the anniversary of KDE! That was my first time in Latinoware and started with a great responsibility to talk about the history of our community. This was the fourth Forum of KDE Brazil at Latinoware and we had a special program during the event, plus a stand where we can sell our promotional materials and give information about KDE for visitors.
During my presentation I showed how KDE was created and how it grew over the 15 years to become this great community we have today. I showed things like the famous Matthias Ettrich email and your ideas for creating a simple and user-friendly desktop environment. I talked a little too over each meeting of contributors we’ve had over these 15 years. I also showed screenshots of each version of KDE and presented each with its qualities and news.
The most important thing was that I showed in numbers as our community grew and how KDE is no longer seen as just a software, but seen as a great community that makes free software. I think we did a good job in Latinoware, now let’s prepare for other events! I loved talking about the history of KDE, I think I’ll do it more often.
My talk (in brazilian portuguese) is available here for download! Enjoy it!
See you there!
