RISoL participants and community representatives gathered at fisl14 to discuss demands, make new partnerships and to propose actions. RISoL, an initiative that is two years old, appeared from partnerships made during the fifth edition of Fisl, the 2008 CONSEGI and the Acordo Atlântico (Atlantic Agreement, end of fisl12).
In the previous Fisl, during a table with many organizations from civil society, "it became clear the need to globally organize and coordinate, but act locally, and thus it appeared the ideia of the International Network of Free Software", says Ramón Ramón Sánchez, from Iniciativa Focus, Spain.
The International Network of Free Software has voluntary adhesion of Free Software entities, autonomy and public independence of their associates as principles. Network association must be a means, not an end it itself. Members have automatic support without consultation, when they follow the approved premises of the Network.
During the meetings carried on (July 4 and 5, at Fisl14) 11 entities were present: Latinux, Iniciativa Focus, Solar, Cesol, ASLE, Cadesol and ASL, with a total of 14 representatives.
