Conexões Globais 2.0 to discuss new ways of social mobilization over the web

Associação Software Livre.Org and the State Government from Rio Grande do Sul organized the event Conexões Globais 2.0 (Global Connexions 2.0). The event, that happens together with the Social Forum, 25 to 28 January, at the Casa de Cultura Mario Quintana will harbor important discussions about new technologies, digital culture and social mobilization. To accomplish that, activists and international specialists will be present or will participate in panels remotely from their countries.

The programme includes talks, webconferences (with activists who experienced mobilizations in other parts of the world) about subjects like social media, sustainability, rights in the
Internet and democracy 2.0. Workshops and deconferences will also be carried on. Another hot topic for the event is the cultural programme. With live broadcast via Internet, all the communication of the Conexões Globais 2.0 will be collaborative, produced by its own participants.

The Software Livre Radio will broadcast debates and interviews right from the location during the days of the event.

ASL supports global movement for democracy

ASL will be part of the october, 15 movement, which begun in Spain, claiming for a real democratic society. In several parts of the world, youngsters are gathering to demand a just society. In Porto Alegre, the gathering will be around 1:00 PM, in the Monumento do Expedicionário, in Parque Farroupilha (Redenção). The march will proceed up to Praça da Matriz, where the camp will be built. Software Livre Radio will broadcast all the works right from Praça da Matriz.



It's our birthday!

In September, 11, ASL completed eight years of battles and accomplishments in behalf of free software! See below what some of our coordinators have to say about the organization and feel free to write your own commentary to ASL in its birthday month. Leave your statement about the importance of the Association, its relevance to society, or what those eight years represent and what to hope for. All those who manifest their views will be eligible to win a ASL t-shirt with the new visual identity. Three t-shirts will be drawn. ASL at CISL 2011

ASL general coordinator Ricardo Fritsch, in behalf of ASL, will attend the second edition of the International Conference of Free Software that will happen in September, 8 and 9, 2011, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

With support from the main companies in the business, as well as the argentinian state and the Free Software communities in the caribbean and Latin America, the event is set to overcome its own success in the debut edition, as much in public participation and content relevance. Among the novelties are a Work Positions Fair, a Business Round and Virtual Classes for distant learning.

Speakers include names such as Richard Stalmann, Chris Hofmann, Sérgio Amadeu and Marcelo Branco, among others.
