Dave Coffin, Jean-Baptiste Kempf, Félix Kuhne and Pedro Paranaguá are among the newly confirmed guest speakers in the next edition of fisl, and will be with us in Porto Alegre by the end of July.
Dave Coffin, from USA comes to Brazil to speak about dcraw, his creation that is nowadays a standard among GNU/Linux distros when it comes to photography. Today, 15 years after it started, dcraw became the basis in which other softwares build their compatibility with raw camera files. dcraw was the missing piece of software to enable work on professional photography with free software.
The youngsters JB Kempf and Félix Kuhne come respectively from France and Germany to share their sucess experience of their project VideoLan Organization, a developers community which has VLC as its main asset. The open source player - that we all know - managed to enter the universe of the mainstream public because of the versatility of audio and video formats it can play.
Pedro Paranaguá, a lawyer and specialist in intellectual property and professor at FGV, will share his experience with the difficult controversies that involve copyright and the Internet, explaining why knowledge needs to remain free, so it can remain powerful.
So, have you registered yourself?? If not, hurry up! ;)
