Welcome to new Mageia Linux Distribution!
7 de Julho de 2011, 0:00 - sem comentários aindaAs a (former) user of Mandriva, I was willing to change for another Linux distribution. Indeed, I had some difficulties to understand the strategy of the Mandriva Company and, more important, I had some problems with updates of my favorites softwares ...But what other distribution should i use? As a French man living in Brazil, Mandriva (a French-Brasilian company) was a perfect match! But really it was time to change... At the Fisl 12 in Porto Alegre, I met both Debian and Ubuntu users. Both passionated by their Linux distribution... I was going to try Debian (thanks Daniela ...) when I saw that a Mandriva fork called Mageia had come out. And well, it really really rocks! It's fast, updated and ,last but not least, a lot like Mandriva.
Plus, the community - formers Mandriva developers - is very well organised, and motivated. Like Debian, no more company will rule the Mageia distribution. Who says "perfect"?
Geolocation is nice with OpenstreetMap !
28 de Junho de 2011, 0:00 - sem comentários aindaOpenStreetMap is a great project. We all know that… And recently I finally had the pleasure to use it to geolocate partners and events of a french think-tank. The project can be see here : http://apps.institut-gouvernance.org/geoloc_fr.html . Beyond OpenstreetMap, this geolocation software uses Jquery UI, and OpenLayers and a JS library called BDIS. Everything is under GNU GPL.
The XML file that contains the data of the 2 layers is quite simple :
