The growing popularity of mobile devices and solutions make the available market options to multiply, as well as make room for developers to explore their skills and creativity. Among the operating systems to be presented at the 12th International Free Software Forum (fisl12) are Android, by Google, and MeeGo, by Intel. fisl will also be the place for APPCircus Show, international event that showcase novelties in Web applications.


With more than 30 countries already presented, APPCircus Show is divided in two acts, where platforms and supporters are introduced, followed by the presentation of ten products. Participation is open to developers wishing to show their apps. The ten apps will be evaluated and the winner will be allowed to showcase his/her apps in another international event, besides being nominated for the Mobile Premier Awards in 2012. Another event planned for fisl12 is the MeeGo Day, with a host of activities around the Intel's open source Linux distribution for mobiles devices. Announced in 2010 by Intel and Nokia, had its most recent version, MeeGo 1.2, released in May, 19. Designed to work as an Operating System for netbooks, desktops, tablets, car navigation systems, SmarTV and smartphones, MeeGo is currently hosted by the Linux Foundation.


Also present at fisl12, Android will be introduced by Google. The system, in its version 3.1, counts more than 100 thousand available applications and allows developers to write software in the Java programming language, controlling the device using libraries developed by Google.
