The subject was debated today, and the speaker introduced innovations in the software.

One of the most famous Free Software for photo editing, the Gimp, was approached today at the International Free Software Forum (FISL). The speaker, João S. O. Bueno presented details in the internal structure of the software, and a roadmap to the four 32-bit channel images. The speaker also spoke to the audience about how to use GIMP's infrastructure in their own projects of image editing.

- A few years ago I was shocked to learn that te operating system that mostly downloaded GIMP was Windows. Today I understand that our public is composed of people who can't download other photo editing softwares, for they are paid, or they are too complex, and end up with GIMP. It's great to have more than five million users worldwide, said João S. O. Bueno.

According to the speaker, GIMP is compatible with Linux, Windows and Mac, which eases use of the software. Future of GIMP, according to Bueno, is to keep being an accessible program, that edits pictures in a non-destructive way. That advantage is the option to paint in a file, and to be able to recover the original file in years from now.
