The 12th edition of the largest free software event in Latin America, fisl12, will have the participation of the Wikimedia Foundation, responsible for various projects of free culture and network colaboration, among them Wikipedia, the online free multilingual encyclopedia.

Barry Newsted, Wikimedia Global Development Department Chief will speak about the projects of the Wikimedia Foundation and the importance of Brazil in these projects.

Jessie Wild, special projects manager in the Global Development Department will speak about projects such as wikipedia mobile, offline wikipedia and open educational resources. Jessie contributes with a series of initiatives in places such as India, Brazil, north african countries, among others.

Also, during June, 29 and 30, there will be workshops of Wikipedia editing for those who have knowledge of the english language.

fisl12 happens between June, 29 to July, 2, in the PUCRS Center of Events, Porto Alegre, RS, Brazil. More information through the website http://www.softwarelivre.org/fisl12.

Wikipedia - Is an online multilingual encyclopedia, with 18 million articles published in more than 270 languages for around 400 million people. Wikipedia has over 100 thousand colaborators spread worldwide. Wikimedia estimates Wikipedia will reach about 1 billion users and 200 thousand editors in 2015.
