This monday (apr/23), the event Global Connections will hold the delivery of the awards for collaborative coverage, in the Casa de Cultura Mário Quintana, in Porto Alegre.
The event was organized by the Associação Software Livre.org in partnership with the RS State Government, under the Thematic Social Forum, in january/2012, when it invited journalists, photographers, bloggers and free media activists to participate in the collaborative coverage.
The award, sponsored by EBC and by Secom/RS, had more than 40 works submitted, in four categories. Journalists, video editors, movie makers, photographers, advertisers were part of the judging committee, which selected three winners in each category ("Video", "Photo coverage" and "Blogs and sites").
the first place for each category wins a tablet, the second a netbook, and the thirds will win a external HD. Besides, the most accessed video will be awarded with a digital camera. All the materials submitted were evaluated considering criteria such as creativity and representativity. Besides all the presents the winners will take home, everybody benefits with a more plural and creative coverage, strenghtening network participation, collaboration and leadership of the free media activists.
The collaborative coverage award is a partnership between Global Connections 2.0, the RS Communication and Digital Inclusion Secretariat, Culture Secretariat, Empresa Brasil de Comunicação and Associação Software Livre.
During the award cocktail, a donation of a work by graffiti artists Toniolo and trampo, to the Casa de Cultura Mário Quintana. The panel was painted live during a show that heppened at Global Connections 2.0.
