The 4Linux company in partnership with Debian Women will teach a initial course on Systems Administration entirely free for 50 women participating at fisl. The goal of this initiative is to allow more women to participate in free and colaborative projects, such as Debian. The IT market is still significantly disproportionate towards genera, being mostly male.
The course will amount to nine hours, being carried on in the first three days of the event: June, 29, 30 and July, 1st. It is recommended that classmates bring their laptops so they can attend the course, however to course will be assembled so that participants may learn even without a computer. The course will happen inside fisl and 4Linux will give certificates. The be able to attend, one has to be registered at fisl12 and fill the form in this link.
Classes will be taught by Fernanda G. Weiden, who uses Debian since 2003 and currently works for Google, in Zurich, Switzerland. She is part of Debian Women and also one of fisl' organizers, and affiliated to the Free Software Foundation Europe.
