Porto Alegre is located in the extreme south of Brazil and is the geographic center of Mercosul. The Guaíba lake divides the city from south to north, in a shore that was the entrance point for the portuguese Azorean couples who started the colonization, back in 1752. In the following centuries, the city received immigrants from all around the world, and this mix of multiple cultures and religions built Porto Alegre's multiculturalism, a rare space where differences are always welcome.

Today, with 1.415.237 habitants, the capital is a major point for commerce and services and advanced technology. Connected by optic fiber, the city offers the largest WiFi network of Brazil which allows the connection to the internet in buildings and publics parks and their surrounding bars, restaurants and hotels.

Porto Alegre is also the economic, financial, politic, cultural and administrative center for the 31 cities in the metropolitan region and their 3,9 million people. Above all, Porto Alegre has one of the best standards of living in Brazil.
